My Coincidental Journey

One Coincidence After Another and More: Fifteen Books and an Experience Like No Other.

In 2009, I published my first book, “A Game That Forged Rivals: How Competition between Two New England High Schools Created One of the Greatest Traditions in Football.” In many ways the book was an accident, an outgrowth of the reenactment of the first football game between the Massachusetts high schools of Leominster and Fitchburg in 1894.

Football was a different affair in the nineteenth century and a program I was preparing that explained it all quickly turned into a book.

The book sold beyond my wildest imagination but that isn’t the most surprising part of the story.

Many other books followed as if writing them was as natural as the passing New England seasons. Much of the intellectual fuel and energy has been generated by the synchronicity of a multitude of coincidences. I felt a calling, often rooted in giving a voice to past lives that increased my respect for how they met similar challenges that still face us today.

I have grown in my appreciation for human nature, surrounded by some incredible people, both living and deceased. These books have changed my life forever and it has always been my hope that sharing all that I have learned will elevate the reader too. Each time I invest in the message of what is good – I am rewarded in even greater ways. I hope this book opens many minds.

Press Release

Leominster author Mark Bodanza has released a new book. His latest offering, book 15, is titled, “My Coincidental Journey: Joyful Reflections of a Writing Life Unplanned.”

In 2009, Bodanza published his first book, “A Game That Forged Rivals: How Competition between Two New England High Schools Created One of the Greatest Traditions in Football.” In many ways the book was an accident, an outgrowth of the reenactment of the first football game between the Massachusetts high schools of Leominster and Fitchburg in 1894.

Football was a different affair in the nineteenth century and a program he was preparing that explained it all quickly turned into a book.

The book sold beyond Bodanza’s wildest imagination but that isn’t the most surprising part of the story.

Many other books followed as if writing them was as natural as the passing New England seasons. Much of the intellectual fuel and energy has been generated by the synchronicity of a multitude of coincidences. The author felt a calling, often rooted in giving a voice to past lives that increased his respect for how they met similar challenges that still face us today.

Bodanza grew in appreciation for human nature, surrounded by some incredible people, both living and deceased. These books have changed his life forever. It is the author’s hope that sharing all that he has learned will elevate the reader too. Bodanza believes that each time we invest in the message of what is good – we are rewarded in even greater ways. Bodanza hopes this book opens many minds and starts the reader on their own journey of respect for the past, lessons for the future and a path filled with serendipity along the way.

Diane Sanabria, the Leominster Library’s Local History & Genealogy Librarian, reviewed Mark Bodanza’s new book “My Coincidental Journey: Joyful Reflections of a Writing Life Unplanned.”  She described Bodanza’s latest book as follows, “Sentinel & Enterprise once described Mark Bodanza as “Leominster’s Renaissance Man”. He is a consummate storyteller, capturing the people, places and events that have made his hometown such a special place, but also entertaining his readers with stories of giants in the worlds of sport and politics. This book is a real treat for Mark’s many fans as well as an invitation for newcomers to explore the subjects of each chapter in more depth by diving into his rich body of work. In My Coincidental Journey, we are taken on a fascinating voyage of discovery of the stories behind many of his books. For the author, the story behind the story may be coincidence, but for the reader, it is serendipity. Prepare, in his words, for “… things yet to be discovered, enjoyed, and relished.
