How Lou Little Helped Shape College Football.

When the LION ROARED

Nearly a century ago, from humble beginnings in Boston and Leominster, Massachusetts, Lou Little began his college football coaching career at Georgetown University. Six years later, after rebuilding the Hoyas’ football program to prominence, he began a legendary coaching career at Columbia University. His tenure there lasted twenty-six years.

Little defended the game when critics attacked the very nature of college football, helped shape and improve football rules, and was the architect of the game’s most thrilling upsets. He was a motivator to young men. He got the most out of his players but never at the expense of their education and future. Little had a well-earned reputation as the coach who cared deeply about his student athletes on and off the field.

Any lover of college football, or football in general, should know the story of College Football Hall of Fame Coach Lou Little.
